'MAGGY'

'Shepherd Crash Rescue'

She was dismembered, with her body on display at the Reynolds Museum in Wetaskiwin Alberta and the ladder was retrieved from Wisconsin. This was the Society's first major project and she is the jewel of our collection.

During WW II , a training airfield was set-up outside of Calgary. This is the fire fighting apparatus that served that airfield. The Department of National Defense miraculously had a decal insignia from that era that they give us to complete the restoration.

This was a spare Aerial when I started in 1972. It still amazes me that an open cab apparatus was used in our climate.

This Aerial saw front line service until 1979. It became a spare until it was assigned to the Training Division, before finally being decommissioned.

The Society has undertaken the task of restoring photographs of our past. Here are a few samples of work in progress.

1918 Gas Electric Aerial

Rookie Class of 1946

This photo would depict the entire platoon of that era. Taken in front of old 1 Station, this hall served as Fire Headquarters until 1969. It was retired in 1975. It will serve as the model for the proposed Firefighters Heritage Center.

After the WW II, our department was a big supporter of veterans coming home. Three of the 'Rookies' in this photograph are Society Committee members.

Taken in front of old 3 Station. Now a restaurant and watering hole called the 'Hose and Hydrant'. It contains fire-fighting memorabilia that will surely keep any firefighting enthusiast entertained.

A few of the membership take in an event at Van Waters and Rodgers, complete in period dress.

We threw everything we could muster at this one but you can see the result. Hanger 3 was raised to the ground in about 30 minutes.
